Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a homicide at a long-term care home in Iroquois Falls.

Police were called just before 10 p.m. on Dec. 20 after the death of a resident of the home, age 98.

Officers were told the death was the “result of an earlier interaction between two tenants of a long-term care facility,” police said in a news release Friday.

OPP Const. Michelle Simard said in an email that the interaction was an assault, but said she couldn't provide further details because it is an active investigation.

South Porcupine OPP are investigating, with help from the OPP crime unit and forensic services, in conjunction with the coroner’s office.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the South Porcupine OPP at 1-888-310-1122. To remain anonymous, can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online, where you may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
