The man suffered minor injuries when a pair of people he knew attacked him at a house on Francis Street in Hanmer between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m. Oct. 18, Sudbury police said in a news release Monday.

"The individuals then left the residence with the vehicle and the personal belongings," police said.

"One of the parties believed to be involved in the incident was arrested in the parking lot of an establishment on Highway 144 in Chelmsford."

A 31-year-old man was charged with drug possession, extortion, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, robbery, having a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of property obtained by crime.

"Upon searching the individual and the vehicle the individual was driving, officers located multiple baggies containing what is believed to be cocaine and tools that were in the truck taken from the residence in Hanmer," police said.

Armed with a warrant, detectives then searched a home on St. Agnes Street in Azilda around 7:30 p.m. that night with the help of the emergency response unit.

"As a result of the search warrant, officers located and seized the stolen personal belongings, the bill of sale for the vehicle and the vehicle," police said.

"Officers also located and seized several unrestricted firearms that were unlawfully stored within the residence and an unregistered firearm."

A 48-year-old woman is also facing the same charges as the male suspect, who is additionally charged with the careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.

Both suspects are being held in custody pending a bail court appearance scheduled for Monday.
