Guided mural tours connecting people to urban art in Sudbury
Since inception in 2013, the Up Here urban arts and music festival has brought several murals to life in downtown Sudbury.
"Many different subject matters. Different stories. Different styles so that’s whats so great about the mural tours is you get to see quite a lot of different things. They can pick up on different stuff be inspired by and then continue on," says Sarah Blondin, local artist.
Blondin was the guide for the mural walks during the 7th annual event. She says it allows participants the chance to get to know more about the different pieces and the people who created them.
"Get inspired and it’s also great to see downtown to see our local businesses to witness a community here to witness the people here," adds Blondin.
The hot and humid weather didn’t stop the more than 15 people who enjoyed the two and a half hour tour on Saturday.
"I look to at the murals by myself and I take a certain story from them myself but when you hear the artist tell what they really are supposed to mean it’s a different thing completely but its fun to use your imagination," said Pamela Sauerbrei, walk participant.
