A sure sign fall is just around the corner, a frost advisory is blanketing Northern Ontario.

Environment Canada has issued a frost advisory for the following areas:

  • Chapleau - Gogama
  • Elliot Lake - Ranger Lake
  • Greater Sudbury
  • Kapuskasing - Hearst
  • Kirkland Lake - New Liskeard - Temagami
  • Manitoulin - Blind River - Killarney
  • North Bay – West Nipissing
  • Sault Ste. Marie - Superior East
  • Timmins - Cochrane
  • Wawa - White River - Pukaskwa.

Some plants may be damaged or even destroyed by frost.

"An Arctic high pressure area will bring clear skies and light winds to parts of Ontario (on Thursday evening). As a result, frost is expected as temperatures drop to near the freezing mark,” reads a weather alert.

“Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.”
