Fire destroys condemned garage in Timmins

Few details are know at this time, however Timmins fire crews attended a fire at a garage on the corner of Knox Avenue and Brunette Road on Friday.

The structure belonging to Moneta Mine was condemned several years ago due to a sinkhole.

Timmins Fire Department firefighters arrived at 11:15 a.m. to find the building fully engulfed in flames.

Fire officials said it took 15 firefighters to put out the fire.

Deputy Fire Chief Scott Atkinson said the cause of the fire is unknown at this time and the investigation has been turned over to the Timmins Police Service.

Atkinson confirmed no one was in the building at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
