Far North drug raid sees Montreal man arrested, $30K in suspected drugs seized

A Montreal man is facing several charges including drug trafficking following a raid on a home in the the James Bay coast community of Moosonee, Ont.

Officers with the James Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a disturbance at a home on Wavey Crescent in Moosonee at about 6:30 p.m. May 31, police said in a news release Wednesday.
“An investigation revealed that a person was breaching a release order, leading to their arrest,” said OPP officials.
“During the investigation, police seized drugs suspected to be fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine and oxycodone.”
Police estimated the street value of the suspected drugs seized at $31, 600.

As a result, a 43-year-old man from Montreal, Que. has been charged with five counts of drug trafficking in addition to the failing to comply with a release order charge.
The accused remains in custody.

None of the accusations has been proven in court.
