The City Of North Bay is lending its assistance with the evacuation of Keewaydin Camp in Temagami.

About 100 campers between the ages of ten and thirteen were moved out of the area due to the pending forest fire threat.

North Bay Mayor, Al McDonald, says the city's emergency management plan was utilized to ensure the safety of the campers who were transported to Memorial Gardens.

“We are pleased to offer our assistance to the Camp and to help ensure the safety of the young campers as they make their way back home.” said McDonald.

North Bay Fire Chief Jason Whiteley says the city’s emergency management team was able to access the support of the Canadian Red Cross, Nipissing University, North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit, and the Gathering Place in order to meet the needs of the campers that come from across Canada and the United States.

The city says all campers have arrived, are being registered, and the team is working to meet their needs.
