SUDBURY -- A 60-year-old man in Sturgeon Falls is facing charges after police stoped him for not having a red light on the rear of his e-bike.
Nipissing West Ontario Provincial Police pulled him over around 3:15 a.m. on Aug. 31 as he was travelling along on Arthur Street.
"While speaking with the driver, officers concluded alcohol had been consumed and he was subsequently arrested," police said in a news release Wednesday. "As a result of further investigation, officers seized a small amount of drugs, suspected to be cannabis and methamphetamine."
He is now charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol content above the legal limit, possession of methamphetamine, driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available and driving without a red light on the back of his bike.
He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Nov. 5 in Sturgeon Falls.
He was also issued a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and the e-bike was impounded for seven days.
The charge marks the 40th person charged with impaired driving in the Nipissing West detachment area in 2020.
