Drunk driving suspected in fatal Sudbury crash, charges pending

The investigation into a fatal crash on Skead Road in Greater Sudbury early Saturday morning is continuing and police say alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the collision involving two vehicles near the Sudbury airport just before 3:30 a.m.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to hospital for medical treatment, police said in a news release.

The road was closed between Nickel Rim South Mine Road and MacLennan Mine Road for about 10 hours.

Police have not identified the victim.

Greater Sudbury Police Service spokesperson Sarah Kaelas told CTV News in an email Wednesday morning that charges are pending in the case.
