NORTH BAY -- Provincial police in northeastern Ontario were busy on Thursday with two drug busts, seizing fentanyl and other illicit substances.
Search warrants were carried out in Kirkland Lake and Sturgeon Falls, but police have not indicated if they are connected.
Police in Sturgeon Falls arrested two people and seized suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crystal meth and Canadian cash. The estimated street value of the drugs is more than $14,000.
In Kirkland Lake, officers searched a home on Government Road East and also seized suspected fentanyl along with methamphetamine and Canadian cash. The estimated street value of this seizure is over $18,000.
A 41-year-old man from Kirkland Lake faces charges of drug trafficking and possessing property attained by crime. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court locally on Oct. 8.
On Wednesday, provincial police seized more than $55,000 in suspected illicit drugs from a home on Centre Street in Espanola, including what is believed to be fentanyl as well. In that raid, three people were arrested and face drug trafficking charges.
