SUDBURY -- Spirits were high at Carmichael Arena in Sudbury on Friday where COVID-19 vaccine shots were being administered.
In all, 850 people over the age of 80 received their shot on Thursday and another 850 were scheduled to receive it Friday.
CTV News spoke with people on their way out of the arena, and most said things went smoothly from start to finish.
“Oh it was great,” said Arbra Godfrey. “You could hardly even feel the needle go in, no after affects or anything.”
One man travelled close to an hour to get his shot, but said it was worth it.
“All good, no problems,” said Antonio Bevilacqua.
“I feel normal so far, but I live in Capreol so I got a long way to go, so we will see.”
City officials were working outside controlling the traffic flow in an out of the parking lot. Public Health Sudbury & District staff were making sure things ran smoothly inside.
Appointments were available from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
“It wasn’t very long, maybe 20 minutes or so. I enjoyed it,” said Armand Rochon, who also received his vaccine Friday. "There’s staff all over the place, if you need something there’s always someone there to turn to."
Those who are 80 and older and are pre-registered for their vaccine but haven’t heard from Public Health yet will get a call or email within the next two weeks, the local health unit said.
