A commercial motor vehicle driver has been charged with dangerous operation causing death for a 2022 crash near Thunder Bay, Ont., that killed a snow plow driver.
The crash occurred Dec. 2, 2022, just before 10 a.m. on Highway 102.
The 52-year-old driver of the snow plow was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Investigation revealed a Miller snow plow was westbound on Highway 102 west of Silver Falls Road actively plowing snow when it struck an eastbound tractor-trailer unit,” police said at the time.
“The driver and passenger of the tractor-trailer were not injured.”
The tractor-trailer driver, 33, from Brampton, has been charged under the Criminal Code with dangerous operation causing death.
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on March 4.

“Traffic safety remains a top priority of the OPP and is a key component of the OPP's public safety mandate,” police said in a news release.
“Investigations resulting in the loss of life and serious injuries can be complex to investigate. As the vast majority of fatal collisions are preventable, thorough and accurate investigations help ensure that motorists who cause these collisions are held accountable for their driving behaviours. The victims and their families deserve no less.”
