A 61-year-old man has been charged with assault following a confrontation this weekend in Blind River.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on July 6, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment responded to reports of a disturbance at an apartment complex on Woodward Avenue.

“(The) investigation determined the tenant and the complainant had been consuming alcohol when an altercation took place resulting in the complainant receiving a punch in the face,” said police a news release.

In an email to CTV News, OPP Media Officer Const. Beverley Gauthier advised that the victim declined medical attention on Saturday evening.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 9.

None of the accusations has been proven in court.
