Northwestern Ont. woman charged with arson with disregard for human life

A 30-year-old northwestern Ontario woman has been charged with arson following a structure fire Thursday night, police say.
Officers were called to the scene of the fire, a residence on River Avenue in Rainy River, shortly before 11 p.m. Oct. 3, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a news release Friday.
In an email to CTVNorthernOntario.ca, OPP Sgt. Roy Belluz said that a male and the accused were in the building at the time of the fire.
"Both exited once the fire spread," said the OPP spokesperson.
"No injuries (were) reported."
Police said the home is a complete loss.
"Frontline patrol officers assisted by a scene of crime officer began an investigation into the fire, which resulted in the arrest," OPP said.
The woman is charged with arson with disregard for human life.
She was held in custody pending a court appearance in Fort Frances on Friday.
