Northwestern Ont. woman charged with arson with disregard for human life

A 30-year-old northwestern Ontario woman has been charged with arson following a structure fire Thursday night, police say.

Officers were called to the scene of the fire on River Avenue in Rainy River shortly before 11 p.m. Oct. 3, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Friday.

"Frontline patrol officers assisted by a scene of crime officer began an investigation into the fire, which resulted in the arrest," OPP said.

The woman is charged with arson with disregard for human life.

She is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Fort Frances on Friday.
