A section of sidewalk has crumbled in on the east side of Balsam Avenue, city officials said on social media.

“The issue is with a private building,” the post reads.

“The property owner is aware.”

The post has already been shared more than 200 times.

The city said that its public works department is aware of the issue and has closed the sidewalk. The laneway that runs between Balsam and Cedar is also closed.

“The sidewalk and laneway will remain closed until further notice,” the city said.

Officials are asking residents to respect the signage and blockades that are in place.

“You definitely don't want to fall into that hole this weekend,” said officials.

This comes less than a week after a water main break caused a massive pothole near the intersection of Hamelin Avenue and MacLean Drive.
