Provincial police in Elliot Lake arrested a Michigan driver on Saturday afternoon for operating a vehicle while prohibited.

The incident happened while officers were conducting routine patrols on Mississauga Avenue at approximately 3:45 p.m.

“Police recognized a four-door sedan with a Michigan plate as the driver had been previously charged with impaired operation in November of 2023,” said Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in a news release.

“A subsequent vehicle stop was conducted and the driver was arrested.”

As a result, the American 62-year-old was criminally charged with operation while prohibited.

OPP said the sedan was also towed and impounded.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Oct. 10.

None of the accusations has been proven in court.
