Alberta CMV driver charged with dangerous driving in northern Ont.

A 55-year-old commercial vehicle driver has been charged after police received a report about a dangerous driver on Highway 11 west of Hearst, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police were called at 3 p.m. July 12 about “an aggressive CMV driver on Highway 11 in Gill Township,” police said in a news release Wednesday.

“The CMV was reported to be passing on blind corners, causing multiple vehicles to drive onto the shoulder. Also, the CMV had sideswiped a passenger vehicle while re-entering the eastbound lane, causing damage to the driver's side mirror.”

Police stopped the vehicle on Front Street in Hearst. The driver, who is from Edmonton, was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 4 in Hearst.
