Most children that are granted a wish usually want to go to Disney World, but not seven-year-old Aliesha from Bowmanville, in southern Ontario.

She wanted to be a miner for a day, and thanks to several organizations, she got to fulfill her personal goal.

Aliesha lives with a nervous system disorder and made the trip to Timmins with the help of the Toronto and Central Make-A-Wish Foundation, resource company Sherritt International and mining company Goldcorp.

The little girl was told that she could put down three choices for her wish, but she really only wanted to visit a mine. While most kids want to go see Mickey Mouse, Aliesha wanted gold.

So, she travelled to Goldcorp's Dome Mine in Timmins decked out in her tailor-made personal protective equipment to live her dream.

Aliesha told CTV News that she found a big piece of gold at the mine.

"It’s been a dream come true.  Aliesha has been all about mining; about gems, gold, diamonds, so seeing a smile on her face all day long is incredible." said Aliesha’s mom Tiffany.

Part of Aliesha's journey is a first-class ride around the Hollinger open pit mine in an ore hauling truck.  She also went underground at Goldcorp's Hoyle Pond Mine.

Aliesha's little sister, Abigail, got to joinOfficials say this is the first time a wish to visit a mine has ever been granted and they are honoured to host them.

"It's great!  We're making one special day for, I say Aliesha, but if you look at her four-year-old sister Abigail, she's having a blast too.  It was great to give this to the parents too." said Bryan Neeley, Goldcorp sustainability manager.

Aleisha's wish is a one-day event, but she gets to keep her coveralls, and who knows, we may be looking at future miner.
