The province’s Special Investigations Unit is looking to speak with people who witnessed the arrest of a 59-year-old woman in North Bay.

The woman suffered a serious injury during the arrest, according the SIU.

The SIU announced on Wednesday it was looking into the arrest. The 59-year-old was arrested at around 4:30 p.m. on September 17.

“North Bay Police Service officers were called to Lake Heights Road for a disturbance,” reads a media release issued by the SIU.

“The incident occurred outside and investigators believe there may have been a number of witnesses to the incident.”

The SIU urges anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The unit is also asking anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU's website.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
