The former marketing and events manager of the Essar Centre in Sault Ste. Marie has pleaded guilty to four fraud related charges.

In court on Wednesday, Trevor Zachary pleaded guilty to three counts of fraud under $5,000 and one count of forgery. He pleaded not guilty three counts of frauds over $5,000.

He was originally facing 18 charges.

Zachary’s lawyer, Bruce Willson, told CTV it’s the result of an agreement reached with the crown.

Willson said it means upon completion of outlined terms and conditions, Zachary will receive an absolute discharge. As a result, he will have no criminal record.

Zachary has been ordered to pay a $20,000 dollar restitution to the city and perform 40 hours of community service.

Willson said the crown was originally asking for an $80,000 restitution. Zachary will be on probation for six months.

He worked for the Essar Centre from the time it opened in 2006 to 2013.
