Acclaimed Ontario photographer Mark Zelinski is taking to the waters of Lake Huron this weekend, on board the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry.

The trip will help him to launch his ninth book of photography, called 'The Heart Of Turtle Island: The Niagara Escarpment'.

A pair of presentations Zelinski will make during the run on Saturday from South Baymouth to Tobermory and back will highlight 400 pictures shot over five years.

Many of the photos featured in his new book were taken on Manitoulin Island. Zelinski said he wanted to capture its culture and natural beauty.

"There was a land bridge at one time between Bruce Peninsula and Manitoulin Island, and right in the middle of that is an 8,000 year old village that's underwater now, so I consider that to be the heart of Turtle Island," he explained.

Zelinski said author Lenore Keeshig and performers from the Wikwemikong Cultural Festival will also entertain guests during the Saturday book launch.
