Vezina served on the Timmins Family YMCA board of directors from 2013 until 2021 when Timmins amalgamated with the North Bay YMCA and Sudbury YMCA as part of the MCA of Northeastern Ontario and has served on the amalgamated board since.

“We are so pleased to have Antoine sitting at the helm of our new board of directors as we look toward a healthy and promising future at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario,” said President and CEO, Lorrie Turnbull.

Vezina is joined by returning board members Brian Getty, Elaine Hull, Grant Kellett, Steph Klein, Helene Philbin Wilkinson and Joe Torlone and former chair Kristian Gareau. The board also welcomed four new members; Sally Dunton, Mike Guillemette, Ted Majkot and Patrick Shay.

With a master’s degree in business administration and years of experience working in community development in the public sector, the board said Vezina brings a deep well of experience with him to the chair.

Vezina said he is excited to carry on the legacy and hard work of past board members from the three communities the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario serves.

“Regardless of geographic location, we are working together toward one goal,” he said.

“We’re all one Y trying to make sure that the organization does what it does best in each of our communities: provide safe and supportive spaces for our youth and all community members to thrive.”
