It's a worldwide journey and last night the stop was Sudbury.

Female bikers from across the globe are participating in a worldwide motorcycle relay and the group made a pit stop in Sudbury on Friday night.

One rider, Collette Tindelledeling has spent 2019 on the road.

"I'm following the WRWR (Women Riders World Relay) relay around the world. So, I saw it on the internet 10 days before it started, I bought a motorcycle in England online because I'm from Australia, and I basically flew out to meet Haley Bell" said Tindelledeling.

The Women Riders World Relay started in Scotland in February.

A baton is passed along and has so far been throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand before making it to Canada. The relay aims to raise awareness about female riders.

Liza Kokko is the regional coordinator for the relay.

"There's a huge growing population of women riders in the world and we wear men's gear most of the time. It doesn't fit right, it's uncomfortable, so we're just trying to raise awareness that, hey we ride bikes too," said Kokko.

The group stopped in Sudbury for photos at the Big Nickel.

Tindelledeling took a year off from her job and has bought different motorcycles in different continents just to participate in the initiative.

"It's just fantastic. We go to motorbike shops all over the world. We meet the motorbike clubs; we meet the bikers, actual girls. So, really, we've just been out there. We see the racetracks, it's just fantastic," said Tindelledeling.

Collette says the reaction has been positive throughout the world. While she's experienced so much, she says the impact that the ride has made has been the highlight.

"Every day I see how the girls grow. They come and say 'oh, it's my first big ride. I've only had my licence for three weeks,' and they just grow. It's fantastic to see. It's every day; there's something special," said Tindelledeling.

After Canada, their next stops include the United States and South America.

The relay will take them back overseas and is expected to end in February, making it a full year-long journey for Tindelledeling.
