North Bay's police chief is stepping down.
Shawn Devine has sent word to the local Police Services Board that he is leaving.
He's been North Bay's police chief since January of 2016, and is moving to take a new post at a province-wide police technology group.
Devine says he'll become the executive director of OPTIC, which is the Ontario Police Technology Information Co-operative.
It's made up of 34 Police Services, six First Nation Police Services, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s enforcement branch, as well as other security services.
He plans to talk to the Police Services Board on January 15th to discuss dates and details of his resignation.
