Update: 

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has identified the victim in the recent fire on Cathcart Street as 65-year-old Bernard Agawa.

Police say he was a resident of the building.

As a result of the fire, seven other residents have been displaced.

An investigation is underway in Sault Ste. Marie after a man died in an overnight fire in the city's west end on Monday.

Police say it happened in the 500 block of Cathcart Street and is deemed suspicious.

No cause of death has been determined at this time.

The Ontario Fire Marshal's office has been called in to assess the scene.

The fire happened in a building behind the Our Lade of Mount Carmel, but the front of church is also cordoned off for the investigation.
