A 27-year-old Ajax, Ont., resident is facing multiple charges – including impaired driving – following a single-vehicle crash in Papineau Cameron Township, near Mattawa.

On Sept. 1 at about 2:30 p.m., the Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single-vehicle collision on Burritts Road.

“Upon arrival, the vehicle was flipped over in the ditch,” said police in a news release.

“There were two occupants in the vehicle and the Nipissing District Ambulance transported the passenger to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.”

Officers transported the driver to the North Bay detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, the driver from Ajax is charged with careless driving causing bodily harm, possessing more than one licence and driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available in addition to two impaired driving charges.

In addition to the charges, the driver also had their license suspended for 90 days and the vehicle involved was impounded by police for 14 days at the owner’s expense.

None of the accusations has been proven in court.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in North Bay on Oct. 8 to answer the charges.
