Vale said this week that the construction of a high-voltage power line will briefly close MR 55 in Sudbury next week.

“Municipal Road 55 near the Copper Cliff Bridge … will be closed to traffic in both directions for approximately 20 minutes, three times on Dec. 5 and three times on Dec. 12,” Vale said in a news release.

“Additional closures may occur on Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14 if needed. Signs will be installed ahead of time to warn automobile traffic in both directions of the upcoming outages.”

The closure will accommodate the construction of new high-voltage power line conductors to the substation at the South headframe of the Copper Cliff Mine.

Greater Sudbury Police Services will be on site to control traffic. Lane restrictions will be in place to minimize the disruptions.
