Up-and-coming comedian from northern Ont. to play comedy show in Sudbury
A comedian original from North Bay, Ont., who recently competed on the TV show America’s Got Talent, is holding a comedy show in Sudbury on Friday night.
Ahren Belisle, 28, now lives in Toronto, but spent the first 17 years of his life in North Bay.
Belisle lives with cerebral palsy, which left him unable to speak. He delivers his comedy routine through a computer-generated voice. By day, he works as an engineer.
Then after only one year doing comedy, he impressed the judges of America’s Got Talent, getting support from five of the judges.
Belisle told CTV News in an interview earlier this month that after his America’s Got Talent journey, he has big dreams and hopes to break down barriers and continue to be a comedian and use his voice.
"I want to get rich and do whatever I want to do," he said.
"I do at some point want to incorporate speaking into my career because I think there is a lot I can talk about with my experiences in life."
Using the platform his has built, Belisle acts as an advocate for mental health and tries to educate people about cerebral palsy through his day-to-day experiences.
