Two commercial truck drivers were killed and two passengers were taken to hospital after a crash on Highway 11 west of Hearst on Saturday, Ontario Provincial Police say.

The collision happened just after 8 a.m., OPP acting Sgt. Hayley Mcleary told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in an email.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Mcleary said "it was relatively sunning out that morning" and the roads were clear and dry at the time of the crash.

Just before 9 a.m. Dec. 14, the Ministry of Transportation reported the road was closed between Labelle Street in Hearst and Gravel Road in Calvet Township due to the crash.

No word on what caused the collision between the two commercial vehicles.

The highway reopened early Sunday morning.

OPP is continuing to investigate.

"Anyone with pertinent information is encouraged to contact the Greenstone OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)," police said.
