Two charged in recent Blind River suspicious death probe

Two people are facing multiple charges after a dead person was brought to North Shore Health Network on Causley Street in Blind River this summer.

“On July 6, police were called after an unknown person with no vital signs was left at a hospital in Blind River,” said provincial police in a news release Friday.
“The person was transported to hospital by two individuals in a pick-up truck and left prior to police arrival.”
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said they arrested the driver and the passenger of the pick-up truck on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
The 65-year-old driver from Blind River and the 37-year-old passenger from Elliot Lake have both been charged with public mischief and obstructing a peace officer and are scheduled to appear in court in Elliot Lake on Dec. 12.
None of the accusations has been proven in court.
OPP officials said the investigation is ongoing.
Police have not released the cause of death, if there are any other suspects involved or when or where the deceased died.
“No name will be released at the family’s request,” read the OPP news release.
