Two arrested, vehicles seized, one suspect at large in northwestern Ont.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sioux Lookout Detachment along with other northwestern Ontario police units have arrested two individuals and seized two vehicles on Friday in relation to a weapons incident in the Sioux Lookout community earlier this month – one suspect remains outstanding and unidentified.

On Aug. 16 at about 4:15 p.m., OPP officers responded to a weapons incident on Millar Crescent.
Police had asked residents to avoid the area of Millar Crescent and Seventh Avenue and several hours during the incident.
“Officers have confirmed that there was nobody injured,” said the OPP.
“Police have every indication that this was a targeted incident, with no active threat to public safety.”
The investigation is ongoing according to police.
“Investigators want to assure the public that OPP officers are fully committed to ensuring public safety and will continue to employ all necessary resources to make certain this incident is thoroughly investigated and the community remains safe,” said police.
“The public can expect to see an increased police presence in the community as the investigation remains ongoing.”
The OPP is reminding the public to be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
“The suspect is still outstanding and unidentified,” said investigators.
The OPP have released several images of the unidentified suspect who is still at large.
