As a result, police closed Elm Street from Lisgar Street to Notre Dame Avenue shortly before 9 a.m.

No one was injured in the incident.

"The scene is now safe and gas has been isolated," deputy fire chief Jesse Oshell said on social media.

The City of Greater Sudbury confirmed the downtown terminal was closed for more than an hour from 8:10 to 9:30 a.m.

"The area was cordoned for a short period of time this morning," Oshell said.

"The transit depot was closed as we worked to ensure that there was no gas leaking into the building that there was no hazard and once Enbridge was there to further isolate the issue and begin repair we were able to release the scene back over the Sudbury Transit."

Gas crews continue on site with repairs.
