Traffic complaint leads to impaired driving charges on 4th of July
A 34-year-old local man is facing impaired driving charges after an off-duty officer called in a traffic complaint in Astorville, Ont., last week.
On July 4 at about 5 a.m., members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment received a call from an off-duty police officer to report a possible impaired driver on South Shore Road.
“OPP attended the scene and observed a grey car pulled onto the side of the road,” said police in a news release.
“Through investigation, police determined that the driver had been consuming an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP detachment.”

As a result of the incident, the driver is facing two impaired driving charges.
The vehicle involved was impounded for seven days by police and the accused also received a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court on July 16.
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
“Drive sober, drive safe,” said police in a related social media post.
