Timmins police seize nearly $90K in drugs

A raid of a Maple Street South residence in Timmins earlier this week led to the seizure of almost $90,000 in illegal drugs.

The Timmins Police Service’s drug enforcement unit, along with the assistance of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service northeast drug enforcement unit executed a search warrant early in the afternoon of Sept. 4.

Police found about 2,225 meth tablets, 132 grams of cocaine, 705.4 grams of crystal meth and 132.9 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.

The total estimated street value of the drugs seized is $89,939, Timmins police said in a news release.

A 40-year-old suspect from Timmins has been charged with several trafficking offences and possession of proceeds obtained by crime.

The accused in the case remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Sept. 9.

"The Timmins Police Service and their policing partners remain committed to addressing drug-related crime in the community," police said.
