Three people are in custody and the hold and secure at Pontiac Public School has been lifted, Ontario Provincial Police said Tuesday afternoon.

The scene was cleared by police early Tuesday evening.

News of the arrests comes after there was an increased police presence in the First Nation for most of Tuesday afternoon.

In a post to social media, Ontario Provincial Police said they were assisting tribal police in the operation.

“The situation is contained,” the OPP said.

“Pontiac Public School is on a hold-and-secure as a precaution. Updates will be provided when available.”

On its Facebook page, Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory Comms said the investigation was in the area of North Corbiere Lane and Wikwemikong Way.

"We are asking the public to please stay away from this area and follow police directions. This will allow the police services to continue to conduct their investigation," the post said.
