Greater Sudbury warns of parking ticket text scam

Share

If you recently received a text warning about an overdue parking ticket in Greater Sudbury, it's fake.

The city issued a warning Thursday about the scam texts, advising that it doesn't issue texts about parking fines.

"We have been made aware of residents receiving text messages for overdue parking tickets stating 'Ontario Ticket Alert,'" the city said.

"Please be advised that the City of Greater Sudbury will not contact you by text message regarding any outstanding fines."

Anyone who received such a text is urged to report it to Sudbury police or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, 1-888-495-8501 or online.
