Suspect driving while prohibited helps Sudbury police make major drug bust

A 42-year-old suspect made it a little easier for police in Sudbury to make an arrest when they spotted them driving while prohibited.

At the time, police were already investigating the accused as a suspected drug dealer.

“While conducting the investigation, detectives witnessed the individual driving a vehicle despite being a prohibited driver due to a previous impaired driving conviction,” police said in a news release this week.

Police stopped the vehicle on Elm Street. A search of the vehicle uncovered 216 grams of fentanyl, 85 grams of cocaine, 484 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale and more than $5,200 in cash.

“The value of the seized drugs is approximately $78,500,” police said.

Charges include multiple drug trafficking offences, driving while prohibited, violating probation and possession of property obtained by crime worth more than $5,000.

They were scheduled to be in bail court Wednesday.
