SUDBURY -- Congratulations are going out to the woman who runs Sudbury's Cinéfest International Film Festival.

Tammy Frick, the festival's executive director, is one of six women to be honoured at this year's Crystal Awards. Frick is receiving the "Outstanding Achievement in Business" award.

The 32nd annual awards gala celebrating women in film and television is taking place in Toronto on December 3.

Karen Bruce is the executive director of Women in Film & Television – Toronto.

"What united this year's honourees is a commitment to mentoring and an innate instinct for spotting talent and empowering others to bring and be their best. Collectively, they have influenced, supported, educated, mentored, and advocated for their peers and the future of the industry. We are thrilled to return the International Achievement Award; Canadian women are not only making a mark (nationally), but also on a global scale. It is our absolute pleasure to recognize and celebrate their many accomplishments," said Bruce.

Cinéfest wrapped up its 31st annual edition of the festival in September.

In addition to the success of Sudbury's annual film festival, Frick has been instrumental in developing the Laugh Out Loud Sudbury Comedy Festival, is a founding member of Music and Film in Motion (MFM) and serves as the Associate Executive Director of Cultural Industries Ontario North (CION).
