Sudbury resident wins $50K in Ontario 49 draw
Terrance Brouse of Garson in Greater Sudbury won $50,000 Sept. 4, the second prize in the Ontario 49 draw.
Brouse, a nickel miner, said he has been playing Ontario 49 and Lottario each week for about a decade. The father and grandfather said this is his first big win.
"I was at home when I checked my ticket on the OLG app. Boy, was I shocked when I saw what I had won," he said in a news release Thursday from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.
"I instantly called my girlfriend and told her I had won big. She replied with, 'Yeah, right,' and laughed. I had to send her a screenshot as proof."
Reflecting on how it felt to win the lottery, Brouse said it is "just unbelievable."
"You always hope to win and be able to live that dream. At first, it was a numbing feeling -- but in the best way possible. My brain wasn’t working and I had to take the day off work."
"I am just so grateful," he added.
