Ethelbert Jean-Pierre of Sudbury is $100,000 richer after winning with Instant Gold Pursuit.

Ethelbert, a retiree, said his family inspired him to purchase a ticket.

"I went to purchase tickets at the store and there were only three left. I told the retailer to give them all to me," he is quoted as saying in a news release.

"When I went to check the tickets, it was the last one I checked that won the $100,000 … I was ecstatic. I could have hit the roof I was jumping so high! My wife and I couldn't believe it!"

Ethelbert plans to share his windfall with his family.

The winning ticket was purchased at Lockerby Confectionary Ltd. on Paris Street in Sudbury.
