Sudbury resident celebrates $100,000 Encore win
David Sagle of the Greater Sudbury community of Falconbridge matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the May 14, 2024, Lotto Max draw to win $100,000.
David Sagle of the Greater Sudbury community of Falconbridge matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the May 14, 2024, Lotto Max draw to win $100,000.
Sagle, 57, has been playing the lottery weekly with OLG for the past decade. Ever since a close relative of his won on a Quick Pick ticket, Sagle has used this feature to make his selections.
“When the store clerk scanned my ticket and the screen lit up, we both stood there in shock, waiting for the call from OLG,” he said, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.
“I told my mom and my sister, and they were overjoyed for me. It’s been a little overwhelming, but I am definitely happy.”
With his windfall, David plans to buy a new vehicle, pay some bills and share with his family.
Encore offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1. There are two Encore draws every day.
The winning ticket was purchased at Lockerby Confectionery on Paris Street in Sudbury.
