SUDBURY -- Greater Sudbury Police have arrested a man wanted for a sexual assault of a woman in August 2018.
On the night of the attack, the man approached the woman on a bicycle in the King Street area at 2:15 a.m. and offered to drive her to Notre Dame Avenue.
"She travelled with the man on his bicycle to a parking lot off of Notre Dame Avenue between King Street and St. George Street (East side) where he sexually assaulted her," police said in the original news release in 2018.
"The young woman was able flee to a nearby residence where she contacted police."
A 37-year-old man was arrested June 6 in connection with the attack, police said. He is charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement.
He has been remanded into custody and will appear in Court on June 11, Sudbury police said in a news release.
"A publication ban has been issued by the Justice of the Peace in relation to this matter," the release said. "Therefore no further details related to the case will be released in order to adhere to the ban and to protect the integrity of the court proceedings."
The young woman sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault.
