SUDBURY -- Sudbury police say a 25-year-old man is being charged with extortion and criminal harassment in connection with an early morning drive-by shooting in Val Caron.
Officials say they received a call shortly after 4 a.m. about shots fired at a home on MR80 near 5th Street in the Greater Sudbury community of Val Caron.
No injuries were reported, but police say there were three people home at the time of the incident.
The road was shut down temporarily so that officers could collect evidence and police remain on the scene as the investigation continues.
Authorities say this is believed to be a targeted and isolated incident and that there is no threat to the general public.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court April 23.
Officers will be canvassing the area throughout the day and anyone with video surveillance footage in the area or information related to this incident is asked to call the criminal investigations division at 705-675-9171 or anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers.
