SUDBURY -- Greater Sudbury Police Service officials say they arrested a 25-year-old man at a local residence Wednesday and charged him with several more child pornography offences.
Police say the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children Centre in the U.S. contacted RCMP after identifying an IP address located in Greater Sudbury that was allegedly uploading and accessing child pornography.
A search warrant was carried out on Feb. 26 by members of the local Internet Child Exploitation Unit and Computer Forensics unit, with assistance from the tactical unit and electronic devices were seized.
Kaitlyn Dunn says the accused, whose name will not be released to protect the identity of the victims, has been previously charged with other child pornography offences.
He now faces additional charges of:
- Distribution of Child Pornography
- Possession of Child Pornography x2
- Access - Child Pornography
- Breach of Prohibition Order – having contact with persons under the age of 16
- Breach of Prohibition Order x2 – having access to internet
The 25-year-old was held in police custody and scheduled to attend bail court Thursday.
CTV News has confirmed with Dunn that the accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 5.
