Environment Canada issued a heavy rainfall warning Tuesday for areas in and around Greater Sudbury and North Bay.

Heavy rain is expected to begin Tuesday evening and continue into Wednesday afternoon.

“Total rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 mm, with locally higher amounts possible,” the warning said.

“Rain will become widespread from west to east tonight. The rain will end or taper to scattered showers through Wednesday morning, but may linger into early Wednesday afternoon for locations near the Ontario/Quebec border.”

For information about flooding, consult your local Conservation Authority or visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads,” Environment Canada said.

“Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.”
