Sudbury man charged in stabbing incident near Richard Lake
A 40-year-old Sudbury man has been charged following a stabbing Tuesday night in the Richard Lake area. The suspect was arrested at 11 a.m. Wednesday on the Highway 17 bypass.
The charges come after argument between two men, who know each other, escalated in the area of Desloges Road shortly before 11 p.m. Aug. 20, Greater Sudbury Police Service said in a news release Wednesday morning.
"The man believed to be responsible fled the scene prior to police arrival," police said.
The victim sustained serious injuries and is in hospital in stable condition.

"Police immediately set up containment for the area," police said.
"Members of the GSPS emergency response unit, marine unit and Ontario Provincial Police K9 unit attended the scene to conduct a ground search in the effort to locate the suspect."
An OPP helicopter and Sudbury police drones were deployed in an aerial search.
The 40-year-old suspect will be held in police custody overnight and will be in bail court Thursday.

After the arrest, Sudbury police said it "would like to recognize all officers and police professionals involved in this investigation for their diligence, tact and commitment to community safety."
"We would also like to give a special thank you to the public for the many tips submitted that directly assisted in the success of this arrest," police said.
