SUDBURY -- A Sudbury construction company has been fined after a worker was killed on the job in 2017.

Following a guilty plea, Teranorth Construction has been fined $125,000 for the fatality that took place at a culvert and bridge rehabilitation project north of Elliot Lake on Highway 639.

The worker was a technician that was killed after jumping from a truck that was rolling backward and downhill.

A victim fine surcharge of 25 per cent has also been imposed by the court as required by the Provincial Offences Act. The surcharge is credited to a special provincial government fund to assist victims of crime.
