Sudbury armed robbery suspects arrested on northwestern Ont. highway

Two men accused of robbing someone in Greater Sudbury at gunpoint last week were arrested after police in northwestern Ontario spotted the suspect's vehicle on Highway 17.
Around 11 a.m. June 13, a man was in his vehicle in the parking lot of a Main Street business in Lively when he was approached by two people, Sudbury police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in an email.
"One of the individuals entered the community member's vehicle and demanded money while displaying what was described as a firearm," Dunn said.
"The community member complied and gave the unknown individual an undisclosed amount of cash."

The two suspects fled in a vehicle and the victim was able to give descriptions to the police the next day through the Canadian Police Information Centre.
Officers from the Schreiber detachment, east of Thunder Bay, spotted the vehicle on Highway 17 near Schreiber around 5 p.m. on Saturday, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.
While those officers followed the suspects, other officers from the Nipigon detachment and Anishinabek Police Service set up spike belts to stop the vehicle.
"The vehicle stopped in front of the spike belts and three occupants were arrested without incident," OPP said.
"Two were held for bail and one released at the request of Greater Sudbury Police Service."
The two men, ages 61 and 37, are charged with robbery with a firearm, occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm and forcible confinement.
