SUDBURY -- After nearly two decades, an association responsible for mining supply in northern Ontario is undergoing some major changes to include everyone in the north.
The Sudbury Area Mining Supply and Service Association announced on Monday the rebrand of their company, including a new name and logo.
Moving forward, the company will be called Mine Connect.
The group's executive director, Paul Bradette, says it’s important for the company to be connected with all of northern Ontario.
"We wanted our name to better reflect exactly what we do, and what we do is connect our members to the community," said Bradette.
Although Sudbury is no longer in the name, members that want to be a part of Mine Connect will still have to be located within northern Ontario.
Officials say that by removing the geographical jurisdiction, it will help include everyone from the north.
"At the end of the day, the more innovative companies we can bring into our fold, the stronger and more impactful we are on a global basis," said Bradette.
He adds that the hope is the new name will help build memberships and help connect operations to the mining world.
