Sportsman Show returns in Timmins

Share

In Timmins, the Schumacher Lions Club’s popular Sportsman Show returned this weekend after a three-year hiatus.

Featuring around 60 vendors and 150 booths, the two-day event is a chance for people to check out the latest recreational vehicles, hunting, camping and fishing gear — and enjoy some entertainment.

Sportswoman and TV personality Amanda Lynn Mayhew is only on hand for meet-and-greets and to show off her bow skills with the local “bow hunters association.”

Proceeds go towards the lions club’s local programs.

“We have our Schumacher Lions Park, that we put a lot of money into,” said John McCauley of the Schumacher Lions Club.

“We help the Timmins and District Hospital. We help the … Alzheimer Society and stuff like that. And we also help out individual people, as well. People that may need glasses, that can’t afford them.

"They might need dentures that they can’t afford. We help out as many people as we can, with the money.”

The show is on until 8 p.m. Saturday and wraps up Sunday at 4 p.m.
